I worked out today that I have nine chapters of my novel written now. I want about thirty in all, so I am a third of the way through. I have also marked out what to write up to chapter fifteen - half-way.
Now I just have to write the rest.

Infinite Jest Writer Found Dead at 46.

UPDATE: David Foster Wallace has been found dead by his wife in Claremont CA. He had hung himself at the age of 46.
Wallace had received a genius grant from the MacArthur Foundation in 1997, and had been since 2002 a tenured professor of English and Creative Writing at Pomona College CA.
This is shocking news; I am halfway through the 1079 pages of Infinite Jest, and so...

Before writing in the morning - best time for me - I find that if I get up early, shower, shave and breakfast well, I feel so conducive to the thoughts that have been percolating through my mind, that to write is just so logical and proper. Infinite Jest
I have been away on the tiny Dodecanese Island of Halki in Greece. It was hot - up to 35 degrees - and I wrote minimally, maybe 1000 words total.
Something happened; I read a book that paralysed me: Infinite Jest by Andrew Foster Wallace.
