It’s a turtle-y shellabration!

Melbourne.
Last night we went to an Aussie rules match at the MCG - 83,400 other people also chose to do this. Awesome. Carlton were thrashed by Essendon by over 50 points. It all got a bit close to a riot when it appeared that lots of people wouldnt get a seat but we managed to get one.
Michael Jackson spent 2003 admitting he shared his toilet with a monkey according to a paper here. So, all good for...
Margaret River.
Just got back from Margaret River. So much wine, so little time.
Perth.
It’s nice and cool here - so lovely after the heat and moisture of asia. I also drank Swan Draught, Western Australia’s best beer.
Perth.
On the way to Perth - flight at nine.
Tenan Negara, Malaysia.
Just been in the jungle in Tenen Negara. 3 hours upriver in a boat from Jerentut (shithole). So many massive trees. It’s the oldest forest on the planet: 130 million years old. We stayed the night and went for as wander in the forest. Jo was bitten twice by leeches and bled a lot. Kecil.
We’re on a palm-fringed white-sand island off the north-east coast of Malaysia. It’s Muslim so booze is expensive and hard to find - boo! But it is nice and hot. We’re right next to the jungle so I’ve been eaten alive by bugs and everything feels a bit damp. Apart from that having a lovely time reading and eating. Off tommorrow on a jungle train through the mountains and...
Notes on Bangkok.
The Kao San road seems to me to be a hellish mixture of Cambden, Glastonbury and, well, Hell. But, if you want to buy a stupid wooden frog from a women wearing the most ludicrous hat you will ever see then go. If you are under twenty-one or over fiftie and want to get laid this is the street for you. Also, if you want to spend your time feeling particulary English and saying “No, no...
Kuala Lumpa - The Kings Birthday.
It is so hot and so humid here. The sun pushes you into the floor. It’s the kings birthday today so everyone is out and about, making everything harder for the simple tourist such as me and Jo. It’s a mishmash of cultures: Chinese, Indian and Malay, which is excellent for fans of food as you can eat cheaply from each nationality. It’s so hot… So very hot. I’m going to...
Kuala Lumpa.
On our way to Kuala Lumpa. Three hour flight then jungle train to white sand islands and hammocks. I’m writing this in the airport on a standup console and I’m bored so goodbye.
