Just been in the jungle in Tenen Negara. 3 hours upriver in a boat from Jerentut (shithole). So many massive trees. It’s the oldest forest on the planet: 130 million years old. We stayed the night and went for as wander in the forest. Jo was bitten twice by leeches and bled a lot. There were ants so big and aggresive that they actively chased you, biting into the rubber soles of your shoes. You had to shake them off. The jungle was massive, sorry is massive… It took us 3 hours by boat and it still never ended. Apparently it’s twice the size of Luxembourg. Last night a storm blew so much fruit from the trees that it felt like Keith Moon was practicing on the roof of our room.
We’re catching the night train to Singapore tonight where we shall stay for a day and then fly to Perth, Australia. It’s so fucking hard to get a beer here. It can drive a thirsty man crazy. I can’t wait for wet country. The Chinese here always sell it though - God bless the Chinese.
And today in a cafe I overheard a man say he was a risk analyst. He was smoking.
